Dwaar

In the heart of Pritam Chowk, nestled within the majestic palaces of Rajasthan, stands the dwaar—a gate that transcends mere archi- tectural significance to become a canvas of cultural symbolism. Each dwaar portrays a distinct season, with the Green Dwaar serving as
an ode to the monsoon. Its verdant hues and intricate motifs capture the essence of renewal, abundance, and vitality that characterize the monsoon season in Rajasthan. As the land awakens to the rhythm
of raindrops and the earth comes alive with vibrant greens, the Green Dwaar becomes a harbinger of hope and prosperity, embodying the spirit of rejuvenation that the monsoon brings to the desert land- scape.

This woven textile piece, meticulously crafted on a TC2 Jacquard loom using black single-use plastic bags, seeks to encapsulate the Dwaar as a wall hanging. In weaving the Green Dwaar, I invite viewers to contemplate the interconnected- ness of culture, nature, and sustainability. By transforming discarded materials into a work of art that pays homage to Rajasthan’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.
