Sage Exports x Parsons MFA Textiles

This exceptional industry project focuses on the creation of surface designs and prints specifically for home textiles. The designs can incorporate a blend of prints and embroidery to achieve a unique aesthetic.

For this project, we collaborated in groups of three. My team concentrated on developing prints for kitchen linens and tableware. We drew our inspiration from the everyday flora encountered on the streets of New York City, reimagining these elements as traditional chintz motifs, which are a renowned form of textile print craft from India. Our goal was to merge contemporary urban influences with classic Indian artistry, creating a distinctive fusion that honors both the vibrant life of New York and the rich heritage of Indian textile design. By integrating these diverse elements, we aimed to produce designs that are not only visually appealing but also deeply rooted in cultural narratives.
