Six Yards of Royalty

Bespoke Womenswear : From a Turban Cloth to a Garment

Garment Construction, Pattern Making and Draping , Photography , Styling

The inspiration for this garment stems from the Indian Turban, a six-yard-long fabric traditionally draped around the head by men to signify their status in society. Once a symbol of royalty, the turban has evolved into a versatile accessory embraced by many. This garment reinterprets the six yards of fabric, transforming it from a man’s emblem of glory into a woman’s elegant drape, embodying royalty and grace.

Design Approach:

The design process is rooted in experimentation, trial and error, and thorough exploration on paper. By drawing inspiration from the physical form and distinctive features of the turban, we aim to craft a garment that evokes a sense of mystery and intrigue for its audience. This piece seeks to contemporize the essence of royalty, blending it with a chic, powerful, and romantic aesthetic—personalities that beautifully contrast and complement one another.

This concept merges tradition with modernity, creating a garment that celebrates cultural heritage while appealing to contemporary sensibilities.
